Sometimes referred to as the Tibet of the Americas, Bolivia is one of the most “remote” countries in the western hemisphere; except for the navigable Paraguay River stretching to the distant Atlantic, Bolivia and Paraguay are the only two landlocked nations in the Americas.

Coca and Bolivia

Coca is a cultivated plant from the family of Erythroxylaceae, native to western South America. Currently the cultivation, sale, and possession of unprocessed coca leaf is only legal in Bolivia, Peru, Chile and Argentina. Actually it’s partially legal in the US and the entire world too because Coca-Cola still uses Coca leaf extracts (without cocaine) as ingredient for the Nr. 1 soft drink.

Onions and Garlic

Onions and Garlic are vegetables witch have both many health benefits – most of our ancestors knew and now our generation has almost totally forgotten about them. Actually both contain a variety of natural chemicals that are capable of fighting infections and healing the human body. Never let the unpleasant odor of any of these foods cause you to avoid them as these foods can easily be added to recipes.

Retro Perspective Paraguay

After 6 months of exploration in Paraguay, we have decided to continue our exploration in Bolivia.
Here are a few of our thoughts and impressions of Paraguay. Traveling like that with a goal in mind has been very enriching – we have been learning many practical things we want to use for our own project in the future and even more things we don’t want to have to deal with :-) Absolutely priceless experiences!

Amazing Bamboo

Bamboo – The amazing grass – This plant has not stopped to fascinate me. Ever since. Is it because of the vivid green look. Or the soft feel or the sound of the bamboo trees as they rub against each other in the wind? I can’t really tell. One of the first time I saw a Bamboo forest was in the south of France a long time ago. Over time I kept learning more and more about this fabulous plant. The more I see and learn the more it keeps on impressing me.

Adobe is the Spanish word for mud brick originates from Arabic, is a building material made from earth and often organic material.

In dry climates, adobe structures are extremely durable, and account for some of the oldest existing buildings in the world.
