Authentic Bolivia Photography during our +6 month exploration of Bolivia in 2015.
Sometimes referred to as the Tibet of the Americas, Bolivia is one of the most “remote” countries in the western hemisphere; except for the navigable Paraguay River stretching to the distant Atlantic, Bolivia and Paraguay are the only two landlocked nations in the Americas. It is also the most indigenous country in the Americas, with 60% of its population being of pure Native American ancestry.
Coca is a cultivated plant from the family of Erythroxylaceae, native to western South America. Currently the cultivation, sale, and possession of unprocessed coca leaf is only legal in Bolivia, Peru, Chile and Argentina. Actually it’s partially legal in the US and the entire world too because Coca-Cola still uses Coca leaf extracts (without cocaine) as ingredient for the Nr. 1 soft drink.
Onions and Garlic are vegetables witch have both many health benefits – most of our ancestors knew and now our generation has almost totally forgotten about them. Actually both contain a variety of natural chemicals that are capable of fighting infections and healing the human body. Never let the unpleasant odor of any of these foods cause you to avoid them as these foods can easily be added to recipes.
As many of you know, Btina and myself decided we wanted a change in our life. We left Switzerland and started our exploration of the South American continent, slow traveling with Paraguay in August 2014.
Our goal was and still is to find a piece of land of our own to start our own self-sufficient, cooperative / eco farm / hostel and co-working / co-living space / nature reserve / eco-tourism / reforestation build with the aid of the brilliant permaculture principles. We plan to build natural buildings with adobe, bamboo or whatever makes sense depending where we finally settle. We plan to work with locals as well as volunteers to build all of those future projects.

Bamboo – The amazing grass – This plant has not stopped to fascinate me. Ever since. Is it because of the vivid green look. Or the soft feel or the sound of the bamboo trees as they rub against each other in the wind? I can’t really tell. One of the first time I saw a Bamboo forest was in the south of France a long time ago. Over time I kept learning more and more about this fabulous plant. The more I see and learn the more it keeps on impressing me. Somehow it seems similar like the magical Moringa tree with all those healthy features. Nature keeps on amazing me – every day.
